Our experience and qualifications
Steve started shooting at 13 yrs old, and my first gundog arrived shortly afterwards! I have trained many breeds of gundogs over the years (as well as sheepdogs while I was farming), but my passion has always been Labradors.
In 1990 we sold the family farm and I started my own business at Wedgnock Shooting Ground. I qualified as a CPSA (Clay Pigeon Shooting Association) instructor the same year, and then in 1993 qualified as a Senior CPSA instructor.
I ran a shooting syndicate for many years and during this period I realised that I enjoyed picking up with my dogs more than shooting!
I started competing in 1998 and my dogs have won more than 80 Field Trial awards including 24 first places and 100+ Working Test awards with over 25 first places including national and international competitions.
I have taken classes for gundog societies for more than 20 years and run group training sessions all over the U.K.
In 2008 I became a Kennel Club B Panel judge and in 2013 I was made a Kennel Club A Panel judge.
I'm very fortunate to have been invited to judge Working Tests and Field Trials all over the UK and Europe.
I completed a lifelong ambition in 2018 and was fortunate enough to be selected for the winning England Retriever Team with FTCh Birdsgreen Cluedo of Wedgnock.
In 2019 I was selected with two dogs (Cluanie and Otto) for the England Retriever Team and had the great honour of being invited to represent Great Britain in Team GB at the prestigious Kennel Club International Test.
Sally has been involved with dogs for over 20 years. When her first Golden Retriever Finley arrived, her passion for gundogs and dog training was born!
