Gundog Training

Steve and Sally offer one-to-one lessons, group training sessions and courses at our purpose built training ground near Warwick and various fantastic venues all over the U.K. including Scotland, North Wales, Devon, Oxfordshire and North Cotswolds.

Our experience and qualifications

Steve started shooting at 13 yrs old, and my first gundog arrived shortly afterwards! I have trained many breeds of gundogs over the years (as well as sheepdogs while I was farming), but my passion has always been Labradors.

In 1990 we sold the family farm and I started my own business at Wedgnock Shooting Ground. I qualified as a CPSA (Clay Pigeon Shooting Association) instructor the same year, and then in 1993 qualified as a Senior CPSA instructor.

I ran a shooting syndicate for many years and during this period I realised that I enjoyed picking up with my dogs more than shooting!

I started competing in 1998 and my dogs have won more than 80 Field Trial awards including 25 first places and 100+ Working Test awards with over 25 first places including national and international competitions.

I have taken classes for gundog societies for more than 20 years and run group training sessions all over the U.K.

In 2008 I became a Kennel Club B Panel judge and in 2013 I was made a Kennel Club A Panel judge.

I'm very fortunate to have been invited to judge Working Tests and Field Trials all over the UK and Europe.

In 2018, 2019, 2020 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024  I had the huge honour of being selected for the England Gundog team with both FTChs Birdsgreen Cluedo of Wedgnock, FTCh Sothebys Choice of Wedgnock and FTW Marstonprior Grenadier of Wedgnock

In 2022, FTCh Sothebys Choice of Wedgnock won the ultimate Top Retriever award at the Game Fair Home International
