Based at Wedgnock Shooting Ground, Warwick, Warwickshire, in the Midlands, Steve and Sally Richardson run Wedgnock and Hartleyjean Gundogs and Wedgnock Dog Centre. We are both A Panel Retriever Judges, and Steve had the honour of judging the 2023 IGL Retriever Championship at the beautiful Queensberry Estate.

Our hobby and passion is working and competing with our dogs, whether it be picking up on local shoots or running in Field Trials and Working Tests successfully at the highest level.

We have made up six Field Trial Champions and qualified for twelve Retriever Championships with the following wonderful dogs: Labradors FTCh Levenghyl Sun Dancer, FTCh Astraglen Hail, FTCh Birdsgreen Cluedo of Wedgnock, FTCh Sothebys Choice of Wedgnock and Golden Retrievers FTCh Castlemans Mkussi and FTCh Frizelwood Odan of Hartleyjean.

We have competed successfully in local, national and international K.C. Working Tests over many years. Steve achieved the greatest honour of being selected to run Cluanie and Otto in the winning England Gundog Teams for the Internationals at the Scottish and English Game Fairs and Skinners World Cup in 2018, 2019,  2021, 2022 and 2023. Cider was selected to run for the England Gundog Team for The Skinners World Cup, The Game Fair and The Scottish Game Fair.

Otto won the Top Retriever trophy at the Home International at the 2022 Game Fair. This is a hugely prestigious award, with the best dogs in the UK competing, so I'm immensely proud of him!

The England team won the Scottish Game Fair Home International in 2018, 2019 and 2022, The Game Fair Home International in 2018, 2019 and 2021, and The Skinner's World Cup in 2023 against 14 teams of the top retrievers in Europe!

Labradors Field Trial Champion Birdsgreen Cluedo of Wedgnock, Field Trial Champion Sothebys Choice of Wedgnock, Astraglen Vardy of Wedgnock, FTW Marstonprior Grenadier of Wedgnock and FTW Emmanygan Damson of Wedgnock are all available at stud.
